8000 series aluminium alloys offer creep rates similar to copper building wire, ensuring comparable performance. With a higher strength-to-weight ratio and lighter weight, they reduce pulling tension, lowering the risk of insulation damage. Their versatile strength range, from dead soft to mild steel, allows for easy processing with excellent ductility. Applications include building wires, underground cables, service cables, braided cables, and armoring.
8000 series aluminium alloys are primarily alloyed with iron and silicon, designed for excellent strength, durability, and electrical conductivity. Their general chemical composition includes: (Al): 95.8% to 97%, (Mg): 0.1% – 0.5%, (Zn): 0.1% – 0.2%, (Cu): Maximum 0.4%, (Fe): Maximum 1%, (Mn) Maximum 1.5%, (Si): Maximum 0.4%, Residuals: Maximum 0.15%
